Project: Technology for obtaining biodegradable polyesters using renewable raw materials
Acronym: Biopol
Contract Number: POIG.01.01.02-10-025/09
Beneficiary: Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies PAS, Lodz
Project Manager: prof. dr hab. Stanisław SŁOMKOWSKI
The project is implemented under the Operational Programme Innovative Economy 2007-2013.
Priority Axis 1.
Research and development of modern technologies,
Measure 1.1
Support for scientific research for establishment of a knowledge-based economy,
Sub-measure 1.1.2
Strategic programmes of scientific research and development works.
Percentage share of funds:
European Regional Development Fund 85%, State budget 15%.
Project purpose: The overall objective of the project is to conduct strategic research and development of innovative technology solutions for the processing of renewable raw material base for the creation of new product mixes from biodegradable polymers based on renewable sources, particularly the polymer produced from lactic acid (known under the name "polylactide") and from the biodegradable polyesters of the available domestic raw materials.
The general objective is met as a consequence of achieving the specific objectives of the project, namely:
- To develop manufacturing technologies polylactide (PLA) in the model research installation (installation PLA)
- Development of manufacturing technology of biodegradable aliphatic-aromatic polyester (IBPE) in the model research installation (installation IBPE)
- Implement the results of chemical modification of PLA processes, and systems IBPE PLA-IBPE
- Implement the results of processing the PLA, IBPE, PLA-IBPE
The project is being carried out by research teams from the Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CBMM PAN), in collaboration with the Institute of Biopolymers and Chemical Fibres (IBWCh) (both institutes from Lodz) and the Faculty of Chemistry, Warsaw University of Technology.
